On average, white women make 77 cents to a white man's dollar, while black men make 76 cents and black women make 64 cents. In addition, hispanic men make 60 cents and hispanic women make 57 cents to a white man's dollar.

Hillary Clinton: Senator Hillary Clinton has been the sponsor the Paycheck Fairness Act, a bill that would "provide more effective remedies to victims of discrimination in the payment of wages on the basis of sex." She has expressed, "When you short-change women, you short-change families and you short-change America." Clinton emphasizes that one of the critical things we must do to strengthen families is to ensure equal pay for women.1

Bernie Sanders: Senator Sanders is aware of the wage gap and also acknowledges the gap between white women and women of color.2 "Why is it that women are going to work and earning 79 cents on the dollar compared to men? Shameful. We need pay equity."

Donald Trump: Last August Trump expressed "If [women] do the same job, they should get the same pay." However a couple of months later when he was challenged about equal pay, he responded, "You're gonna make the same if you do as good a job," which could be interpreted that the wage gap is not caused by gender discrimination, but adequacy in a job.
